Terms of service.
The agreement between you and Zehen: what your licence covers, what we promise, and what we do not.
Last updated 7 September 2026The short version
- Try Zehen free for 14 days. If you buy, you get a licence to run it in your own business, either yearly or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Your data is yours, it lives on your machine, and taking backups is your responsibility, because we hold no copy and cannot restore it for you.
- Nothing auto-renews. You pay by transfer when you choose to, so there is no stored card and no silent charge.
- Do not resell the software or share your licence key. Everything else in normal business use is fine.

1. This agreement
These terms are the agreement between Zehen, billing, inventory and accounting software published and operated from India, and you, the person or business installing or using it. They apply when you download the app, when you use the trial, and for as long as you hold a licence.
By installing or using Zehen you accept these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you confirm you are entitled to do so, and "you" then means that business.
2. The free trial
Zehen is free to download and runs with all features enabled for 14 days. No card is required, and nothing is charged when the trial ends. The point of the trial is that you get to test the real product on your real work before any money changes hands, and the rest of these terms are written on that basis.
When the trial ends the app stops billing until you enter a licence key. Your data stays on your machine and is not deleted or locked away by us.
3. Your licence
When you pay, we issue you a licence key that permits you to install and use Zehen to run your own business. Two plans are offered:
- Yearly, at ₹7,499 per year. It runs for twelve months from the date the key is issued. It does not renew by itself. If you want another year, you pay for another year.
- Lifetime, at ₹19,999 as a single payment. It does not expire, and there is no further licence fee for continuing to use the software.
To be precise about the word "lifetime", because it is a word people reasonably want pinned down: a lifetime licence is a perpetual right to use Zehen, with no recurring fee and no expiry date. It includes updates to Zehen that we release while the product continues to be offered. It is not a promise that we will develop the software forever, and it does not include a separate product that we might one day sell under a different name. If we ever stopped developing Zehen, your lifetime licence would keep working on your machine, because it is verified offline and does not depend on us being there.
A licence covers the counters or machines agreed when you buy it. If your shop grows and you need more, tell us and we will sort it out.
4. What you may not do
You may not:
- resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Zehen, or run it as a service for other businesses,
- share, publish or resell your licence key,
- work around, disable or tamper with the licensing, or use a key you were not issued,
- copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the software, except where Indian law expressly permits it despite a term like this one, or
- remove or alter the Zehen name or notices inside the product.
The software itself, its design, its name and its code remain ours. Buying a licence buys the right to use it, not ownership of it.
5. Your data and your backups
Everything you enter into Zehen belongs to you. It is stored in a database on your own computer or your own shop server. We hold no copy, and as explained in our privacy policy, we have no way to read it.
That has a consequence you should take seriously: keeping backups is your responsibility. If a disk fails, a machine is stolen, ransomware encrypts your files or someone deletes the database, we cannot recover your data, because we never had it. The app can produce backups. Take them regularly, and keep them somewhere other than the machine running Zehen.
You are also responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. Zehen does the arithmetic on the figures you give it.
6. Prices and payment
Prices are in Indian rupees and are shown on the pricing section of our site. Taxes are charged as applicable and shown on your invoice.
Payment is by UPI or bank transfer against an invoice. There is no card stored anywhere, no subscription mandate and no auto-debit, so nothing can be charged to you without you actively sending it. We issue a GST invoice for every payment.
We may change our prices, and we will publish the new ones here. A price change never affects a licence you have already bought: a lifetime licence stays paid, and a yearly licence keeps the price you paid until it runs out.
7. Delivery
Zehen is delivered digitally. You download the app from this website, and your licence key is sent to you by email or WhatsApp, normally within 24 hours of your payment being confirmed, and typically much sooner during working hours. Nothing is shipped physically. If a key has not reached you, tell us and we will resend it.
8. Support and updates
Support is provided by WhatsApp, phone and email during Indian business hours. We help with installing Zehen, getting your data in, and using the software. We are not your accountant and cannot advise you on your tax position or your filings.
We release updates from time to time to fix problems and add features. Yearly licences receive updates while the licence is active. Lifetime licences receive updates as described in section 3.
9. Third-party services
Some features connect to services we do not control, notably WhatsApp for sending bills and reminders, and the Government of India's GST systems for e-invoices and e-way bills. These have their own terms, their own outages and their own rule changes. We will do our best to keep Zehen working with them, but we cannot promise that a third party will stay available or keep behaving the same way.
10. Tax and compliance
Zehen helps you produce GST invoices and returns from your own records. You remain responsible for your own compliance: for what you file, when you file it, and whether the underlying figures are right. Software is a tool here, not a guarantee, and nothing Zehen produces is a substitute for advice from your accountant.
11. What we do and do not promise
We promise that Zehen will do broadly what our website and documentation say it does, and that we will make a genuine effort to fix problems you report.
Beyond that, the software is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be free of every bug, that it will suit a purpose we have not described, or that it will run correctly on hardware or a Windows configuration we have never seen. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other Indian law that cannot be contracted out of.
12. Limitation of liability
If something goes wrong and we are liable to you, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us for Zehen in the twelve months before the problem arose.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses: lost profit, lost business, lost goodwill, or the cost of reconstructing data. In particular, and following on from section 5, we are not liable for data you lose because a backup was not taken.
None of this limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that Indian law does not permit us to limit.
13. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Zehen whenever you like. A yearly licence simply runs to the end of its term. Because nothing renews automatically, there is nothing to cancel.
We may end your licence if you breach these terms in a serious way, such as reselling the software or circumventing the licensing, and we will normally warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we do end it, your data remains yours and remains on your machine.
Refunds are covered separately in our delivery, cancellation and refund policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, and the date at the top will change when we do. Changes apply from the date they are published. If a change materially reduces what you get under a licence you have already paid for, it does not apply to that licence.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute arising out of them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
